All About Pink Diamonds

The majority of pink diamonds come from the Australian Argyle diamond mine, which produces more than 90 per cent of the world’s natural diamonds. While we do know how coloured diamonds get their colour, blue diamonds get their colour from traces of boron, the displacement of carbon atoms creates green diamonds, but to this day, it is unclear how pink diamonds get their unique colour. The theory is that while the diamond is forced to the Earth’s surface, the structure of the diamond somehow becomes altered, causing a deformation. This flaw forces the stone to absorb light differently and emit the pink hue.

The lighter the tone, the rarer the diamond.
