Our custom design process is broken down into four simple steps to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience. To begin your journey of creating your dream ring, you can visit one of our design studios located in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. You have two options: drop by one of our shops or book an appointment through our website by clicking here. However, if visiting in person is impossible, we can connect with you via email, video link, or phone call. Although booking an appointment is not mandatory, it can help you avoid wait times during peak hours. But, even if you haven’t booked an appointment, you can visit us anytime. Our shops are open to the public, and you can try on rings, discuss designs, and start your journey.

After you have chosen your ring design, we will begin working on the concept. We use advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology to bring your idea to life. This software allows us to create realistic images of your dream ring using precise measurements to demonstrate how it will look. By utilising CAD, we can produce unique ring designs that reflect your taste and preferences to the most intricate detail. We will send you the CAD design work via email for you to review, ensuring that we are creating your exact vision. You make design adjustments, and we will resend the CAD model for further approval. Once you have approved the concept design, we will proceed to the manufacturing phase – how exciting!

If your design needs some adjustments, we’re happy to help! We allow you to make revisions until the ring is perfect. We can adjust the setting’s depth, width, height and style to your liking. Additionally, we like to taper back the setting to ensure a future wedding ring can sit flush and form a perfect set. To ensure the highest possible quality, we add extra gold or platinum for durability, strength, and a lifetime of happiness – just like a good marriage!

Once you have approved your detailed CAD ring design, a 3D replica of the design is carefully printed using a wax polymer material. This replica is an exact match of your approved CAD model to within 0.01mm (less than an eyelash). Next, the wax replica is placed in a flask of liquid plaster which sets hard like concrete. The mould is then heated in an oven and a vacuum system removes the wax leaving a negative mould. This mould is then filled with molten precious metal of your choice, such as Platinum, Rose, Yellow or White Gold. The precious metal cools, and we crack open the mould to reveal your perfect ring, complete with all the details you confirmed in the CAD model.  The result is a perfectly symmetrical and error-free ring casting. This is the most precise and accurate method to create fine jewellery. Now to the workshop for traditional hand finishing to perfection.

Our workshop has been given the responsibility of perfecting the ring or jewellery item. This includes polishing the metal by hand until it becomes super reflective, bright, and mirror-like. The gemstones are then meticulously placed under a microscope to ensure that they are set symmetrically and perfectly. The finger size is checked, hallmarks are confirmed, and a final polish is applied. Our workshop team has over 100 years of combined experience, and they finish each item to the highest standards so that we can imprint the Polished Diamonds maker’s mark on every jewellery item. Now, it is the turn of the design studio team to finish off.

Your engagement ring or jewelry item has been completed and is now back in the Design Studio for final inspection and boxing. We thoroughly check each ring to ensure that it matches the finger size, precious metal, and gemstone that was ordered. We also compare the symmetry of the ring against the original design notes and CAD model to ensure all requirements have been met. Once the inspection is complete, the ring is put into a hot ultrasonic bath while we prepare the documents and presentation box. After that, we delicately position the ring into the box for presentation and the process is complete. We generally take about 2 weeks to complete the entire process, but can produce the item in as little as 1 week if required. Our quality is the highest possible and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
